GI_Forum 2013 - Creating the GISociety

The University of Salzburg hosts again the international GI community from July 2 - 5, 2013: The interdisciplinary GI_Forum attracts an international GIScience audience and communicates innovative research and learning in Geographic Information Science with focus on hardware, software, orgware and brainware for the GISociety, and their inter-relationships.

GI_Forum runs concurrently with the highly regarded German language conference on Applied Geoinformatics – AGIT (www.agit.at). The two symposia share some 1200 participants, the innovative AGIT EXPO exhibit and stimulating social events.

GI_Forum programme online: With more than 70 presentations and workshops GI_Forum 2013 offers a programme with the goal of promoting interest in translating theory, methods and techniques into a broad range of GI application domains. This year our keynote speakers Sarah Elwood, Josef Strobl, Geoff Zeiss, Francis Harvey, Xavier Lopez and Carmel Mbizvo support the general topic. Keynote speakers will be available for additional discussion with young researchers within the framework of our Young Researcher Corner.

Special Workshop at GI_Forum 2013 (EO4Hab): Within GI-Forum 2013, a special session on Ecosystem and Biodiversity Monitoring (EO4Hab) will focus on the outcomes of the FP7 projects MS.MONINA and BIO_SOS and highlight the potential of Earth observation data and technologies in support of biodiversity and ecosystem monitoring and support.
